Sunday School Policies

 

Sunday School Meetings:

All meetings will be held in the Board Room at 9:15 AM before the Divine Liturgy.  All meeting dates are listed on the enclosed Sunday School schedule.  So that we can start promptly, snacks and coffee will be provided at all meetings.  Hopefully this will cut down on tardiness.

Meeting Minutes:

Minutes from each Sunday School meeting will be sent via e-mail.  Meeting minutes are meant to clarify issues and highlight any decision made.  They are not an excuse for teachers to be absent.

Attendance Sheets:

A class list is enclosed with your folder.  Please take attendance after Communion.  Make sure that you refer to the altar boy schedule each week.  If students let you know that they will be absent because they are attending another parish please ask them to bring you a bulletin the following week as proof of their attendance.  Illness and attendance at other parishes are excused absences.  Please mark students present on Sunday with a “ü”.  If a student is absent please mark with an “x”.  For those that are in the altar, put an “A” under the date that they are serving.  Please record all attendance in your roll book.

Announcement Sheets:

A sheet will be left in each classroom on Sundays for teachers with any announcements pertaining to that Sunday or the upcoming week.  Hopefully, this will help cut down on interruptions.

Prayer:

Please start all classes off with a simple prayer.  If you need any suggestions, there are copies of many short prayer books available in the Sunday School office.

 Student Procedure & Behavior Guidelines:

A copy of this can be found in the Sunday School handbook enclosed in your folder.

Sunday School Books:

At the beginning of the year, each student will receive new books, which they will take home to add to their personal library at the conclusion of that year.

Request Form:

In this folder you will find a request form for supplies.  Teachers are asked to submit a form for any day-to-day supplies that you may need.  Please give a week’s notice so an order can be placed with Joanne.  For any special project supplies, please submit a receipt and we will reimburse you.

Absenteeism:

If you know that you are going to be absent from Sunday School, please call someone listed on the sub list.  Once you have secured a sub please drop an e-mail to Elaine and Panayota to let them know who will be covering your class.  Please make sure you are clear about what you want the sub to cover in your absence.

Phone Tree:

The phone tree will only be used in case of an emergency, or if something in the schedule needs to change at last minute.

The S.S. Rudder:

The S.S. Rudder will be published four times a year, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.  We would like to highlight students and their accomplishments.  Please feel free to submit any information about your students at any time during the year.  E-mail us your ideas or thoughts at pmk1014@verizon.net, or drop a note off at the Sunday School office.
